Psychological assessment can be helpful in identifying difficulties and strengths in an individual’s functioning in their environment. Individual psychological assessment involves a detailed investigation of the child’s own skills related to cognition, school learning, attention, executive functioning, social functioning, and emotional well-being. At least four hours is spent one-on-one with the individual over a series of sessions. It can include individual testing, observation, detailed interviews with parent and child, and often involves follow-up with families and schools.
